The past few days have been filled with gray skies and rain showers that kept my little ones indoors longer than usual. To keep my two adorable angels from turning into grumpy imps, we decided to have a Musical Monday with some sweet treats to end our session.
My little kiddos pretended to be rock stars for one afternoon with Jade playing the Hannah Montana electric guitar that she got from Santa last Christmas and Jakei tapping, sometimes pounding, away on his kiddie drum set toy. We played some soft music on the background to disguise the racket that we were creating with our toy instruments. The little tots soon discovered that being a rock star takes a lot of work and energy. An hour of making their own brand of band music got them craving for some tummy fillers and I got a perfect sweet ending for an afternoon of energized jamming. I quickly prepared a plate of Voortman’s Fudge Striped Oatmeal Cookies and some warm milk to combat the cold afternoon. The oatmeal cookies were fully coated with chocolate at the bottom and accented with fudge stripes on top. What I like about it is that the chocolate has just the right sweetness that enhances the flavor of the cookie instead of overpowering it. Health conscious individuals will be pleased with its 0% transfat content and the rich fiber found in oatmeal. Washing these treats down with a glass of warm milk that is high in calcium, riboflavin, vitamin D and B12 helped replenish the energy spent in our jamming session.
Our lively musical afternoon quickly dispersed the gloom of the bad weather. Jade seemed to have inherited her cousin Ally’s love for the guitar. I can imagine them jamming together in the future complete with amplifiers and accessories like a stand for monitor speakers and music stand in our roof deck. By then milk and cookies may not be enough to satisfy their after jamming appetites but it will have to do for now.
